Asthma Medications
Asthma is a common respiratory condition in children, and managing it often requires medications to help control symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, and coughing . There are two main types of asthma medications: quick-relief medications and long-term control medications.
-
Quick- relief medication: These medications are used during an asthma attack to quickly open the airways and make breathing easier. One example is albuterol, which is commonly delivered through an inhaler or nebulizer.
-
Long-term control medications: These medications are taken daily to help prevent asthma attacks. Common Inhaled corticosteroids, include fluticasone or budensonide are safe long term. Asthma management is essential for children to prevent frequent flare-ups and ensure they can live an active, healthy life.
